It seems far too early for spring to have sprung, but it seems that it has! The crocuses and indian plum trees are in bloom, along with dozens of other flowers, and buds are ready to burst everywhere. We are thrilled to see the color and sunshine, but what a wacky weather year already!

At the vineyard, pruning of the vines was delayed in order to encourage a later budbreak and provide an extra measure of protection against the potential frosts yet to come. It certainly seems as though we may be in the clear, though – the weather forecasts all call for a temperate, rainy spring; summer weather allowing, we are looking forward to another fantastic fruit year!

2010 Oregon Wine, Food and Brew Festival

Wine At Roth’s

You can now find our wines at two Roth’s Fresh Market locations:

Sunnyslope, at 4555 Liberty Road S. in Salem and Vista, at 3045 Commercial St. SE in Salem

They are carrying our ’06 Pinot noir, ’08 Chardonnay, and ’08 Pinot gris. We will hold occasional tastings there – the next one is scheduled for Christmas Eve at Sunnyslope!

Enoteca Wine Bar Tasting

Last night found us at Enoteca Wine Bar in Corvallis, introducing our wines to a very receptive audience! We served our ’06 Pinot Noir and ’08 Chardonnay.

Thanksgiving Wine Country Weekend

Quite the crowd!

Mahonia Vineyard held its first-ever wine tasting on the Thanksgiving Weekend. It was a resounding success! We had over 130 people in attendance over the course of the weekend (which I hear is quite good), and everyone had a fabulous time. Pictures of the event are up on our Facebook page and our website, which we will be updating regularly.

We have only recently begun offering our wines to the public, and we are small enough that very few people know who (or where) we are – but that is beginning to change. We offered our ’06 Pinot noir, ’08 Pinot gris, and ’08 Chardonnay at the tasting. Sales were excellent, and everyone was pleasantly surprised by the superb quality – combined with affordable pricing – that Mahonia offers!
